About the
Mirambika Research Centre
Mirambika
Research Centre for Integral Education and Human Values
(MRC for short) is one of the several institutions established
under the auspices of Sri Aurobindo Education Society, New Delhi. As in
the case of our other initatives, the inspiration continues to be the
philosophy and vision of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. The broad goal of
MRC is to go beyond education in the usual sense of the world.
According to Sri Aurobindo, combining the development of the human
instrument with the process of inner self-improvement calls for a variety
of paths that each individual student needs to discover, choose from and
adapt in accordance with his svabhava.
The
courses offered by MRC provide exactly such a variety of paths to
an aspirant seeking to work out a personal harmony between outer and inner
development. The courses are directed at those who are seeking to enrich
their lives and are willing to take a pause and re-energize themselves for
making a new beginning. They may need for this purpose some knowledge and
skills, but more than that they need the light, the clarity and the
strength to take the plunge. In short, the courses are designed to help
make a transition by initiating a transformation in order to transcend the
limitations which retard the process of self-discovery.

MRC
is
uniquely poised to fulfill its goals, being situated in the clean and
green spiritually uplifting atmosphere of Sri Aurobindo Ashram – Delhi
Branch, having available a large number of scholars willing to share their
knowledge and wisdom as a service to the Divine. The broad goal of MRC is
to provide
‘Education
for life, not just for a living’.
The
Courses
The following short-term part-time
non-residential courses are offered by MRC from time to time.
1.
Certificate course on Pre-school Childcare and Education
This course, radical in its approach and
innovative in detail, aims at enabling teachers to translate into practice
the principle that an ideal system of education should discipline, develop
and refine the body, mind and intellect. This would enable them to
function in the light of the divine essence of the being. The course goes
beyond the Montessori methods in that it incorporates the principles of
education propounded by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.
2.
Certificate course on Personality Enrichment
The course is aimed at those stepping into
the career for the first time and also at those who want to enhance their
career as well as their personality. The way forward is to develop skill
sets which recruiters look for and to rejuvenate, remove bottlenecks and
rework on some skills. The course includes modules such as Communication,
Team work and Interpersonal Skills, Conflict resolution, Grooming and
etiquette, etc.. The thrust of this course is on Self-exploration and
Self-discovery.
3.
Certificate course on Creative Writing
It is widely believed that good authors
are born rather than made. Writing skills can be learnt and the innate
potential for creativity tapped. Through a series of lectures on writing
skills, unique characteristics of different types of writing, writing
assignments, and interactions with writers, illustrators, editors and
publishers, the students are exposed to the world of writing. The course
is specially aimed at those midway through the career or nearing
retirement.
4.
Certificate course on Yoga
The course is aimed at enabling the
student to get an in-depth knowledge of the philosophy and practice of
yoga with special reference to Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo and the
Mother. The student learns how yoga can help in a psychospiritual
transformation. The student is able to bring yoga into his/her own life
and can also organize a course on Integral Yoga as well as give
instructions for the common yogic practices.
5. Introduction to Integral Education
Each of us carries a
spark of the Supreme consciousness deep within. Identifying ourselves with
That can be the beginning of self-perfection. In harmony with this,
Integral education, as envisaged by Sri Aurobindo, aims at both, the
finding of this soul-spark and the development of the mental, affective,
and physical domains. This course gives participants the opportunity to
study underlying philosophy as well as principles and processes of
Integral education. At the same time it asks the participants, through
self-observation and self-reflection to find a personal balance between
the surface instrument and the inner Self, and apply it in their work.
Eligibility:
Resource
persons, teachers and trainees of Mirambika, but a few
participants from outside with genuine interest
may be accommodated.
6. Introduction to Indian Psychology
The
life-affirming spirituality that is the very basis of the Indian
civilization is not only essential for our own individual happiness, but
also for the harmonious evolution of the global civilization. In
theoretical fields as well as in applications like counselling,
psychotherapy and education, Indian approaches to psychology are not only
more in harmony with the Indian culture but also with human nature in
general. This course tries to develop a genuinely integral approach to
psychology, based largely on Sri Aurobindo’s synthesis of the Indian
tradition, though other sources are brought in when needed.
Eligibility: Postgraduate
psychology students, lecturers, and professionals active in a
psychology-related area.
